NPFL Matchday 9: Kun Khalifat, Warri Wolves Seal Stunning Away Wins as Enyimba, Kano Pillars Struggles Continue

It was a weekend of shocks and excitement across Matchday 9 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with Kun Khalifat and Warri Wolves recording remarkable away victories, while giants Enyimba and Kano Pillars suffered defeats.

At the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, newcomers Kun Khalifat FC stunned hosts Bayelsa United 2–1.

Uche Moses opened the scoring in the 54th minute before Michael Akano sealed the win in the 77th minute.

Jawad Mustapha’s penalty in the 62nd minute was only a consolation for the home side.

In Aba, Warri Wolves shocked Enyimba International with a 2–1 win.

The visitors took an early lead through an own goal by Mohammed Hussaini, and Tejiri Emonena’s 67th-minute strike made it 2–0 before Edidiong Ezekiel pulled one back for Enyimba.

Kano Pillars’ inconsistent run continued as they fell 2–1 away to Barau FC.

Rabiu Ali gave Pillars an early lead, but Yahaya Ibrahim and Stanley Oganbor struck in the second half to turn the game around for the hosts.

In Ibadan, Shooting Stars (3SC) maintained their solid home form with a 2–0 win over Abia Warriors, courtesy of goals from Ayobami Junior and Qamar Adegoke.

Ikorodu City also impressed at home, defeating Nasarawa United 2–0 with strikes from Chidera Oparaocha and Joseph Arumala.

Elsewhere, Niger Tornadoes produced a commanding 4–0 thrashing of Plateau United, with Abdulaziz Dalhatu netting a sensational hat-trick before Terdoo Shimagande added the fourth in stoppage time.

In Ilorin, Kwara United edged Katsina United 1–0 thanks to Ibrahim Yahaya’s late winner in the 80th minute.

The results leave the NPFL table delicately poised as the title race intensifies heading into Matchday 10.
