NPFL Matchday 10: Shooting Stars, Enyimba Fall as Boboye Starts with Point for Insurance

Matchday 10 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) delivered drama and surprises across several venues, as heavyweights Shooting Stars and Enyimba suffered defeats on the road, while new Bendel Insurance boss Kennedy Boboye earned a valuable away point in Owerri.

In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists ended Shooting Stars’ five-match unbeaten streak with an emphatic 2–0 victory.

Goals from Abdullahi Usman (31’) and Jonathan Mairiga (42’) sealed the win for the home side, leaving the Oluyole Warriors empty-handed after a fine recent run of form.

At the Cathedral in Enugu, Rangers International were frustrated by a resilient Kwara United, as both teams settled for a goalless draw. The result earned the visitors a valuable away point against one of the league’s strongest home sides.

In Ozoro, Warri Wolves continued their impressive form with a 2–0 win over Bayelsa United.
Forward Igbunu Evwierhurhoma was the hero, netting a brace in the 14th and 90+4th minutes, keeping Wolves firmly among the top contenders this season.

At the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United defeated Enyimba International 2–1 in a highly entertaining encounter.
Monday Gideon struck twice (50’, 76’) to give the Peace Boys all three points, while Jonathan Jacob (68’) scored Enyimba’s lone goal.

In Umuahia, Abia Warriors extended their solid home record with a 2–0 triumph over Barau FC.
Emeka Obioma (16’) and Sunday Megwo (62’) were on target as the Warriors kept pressure on league leaders Nasarawa United.

Elsewhere in Owerri, Kun Khalifat FC were held to a 1–1 draw by Bendel Insurance.
Kayode Oke (2’) gave the visitors a dream start under new manager Kennedy Boboye, but Uche Moses (62’) equalized to salvage a point for the home side.

With these results, Nasarawa United remain top of the NPFL table with 19 points, closely followed by Abia Warriors (18 pts) and Niger Tornadoes (17 pts).
At the other end, Kano Pillars and Bendel Insurance continue to battle relegation woes.
