NPFL: Kwara United’s Aimufua Brace Sinks Remo Stars As Warri Wolves Hold Insurance

Kwara United forward Junior Aimufua scored twice as the Harmony Boys defeated Remo Stars 3–1 in Ilorin on Saturday in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 11 encounter.

The victory extends Kwara United’s fine run under new head coach Brazil, making it two wins from two and three matches unbeaten since his appointment.

Aimufua opened the scoring in the 29th minute, calmly slotting home to hand the hosts a first-half advantage. Babatunde Bright doubled the lead in the 74th minute before Aimufua sealed his brace in the 87th minute, putting the result beyond doubt.

Remo Stars grabbed a late consolation through Jabbar Malik in stoppage time, but it proved too little, too late as Kwara United wrapped up a convincing win.

The result sees the Ilorin-based side continue their resurgence, with two wins and a draw under coach Brazil, moving them further up the NPFL standings.

For Remo Stars, it marks another disappointing outing as they struggle to regain form following their 7–1 humiliation by Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League. The defeat is their third consecutive loss across all competitions.

Meanwhile, in Benin City, Bendel Insurance’s poor start to the season continued as they were held to a 1–1 draw by a resilient Warri Wolves side at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Alex Oweilayefa put Insurance ahead in the 9th minute, but Othuke Egbo levelled for the visitors in the 41st minute to ensure a share of the spoils.

Despite a recent change in technical leadership, Insurance’s struggles persist — with only one win all season and three draws in their last five matches.

In contrast, Warri Wolves maintained their solid away form, earning another valuable point on the road and continuing to show signs of a side with top-flight ambitions.
