At the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl, Ilorin, Kwara United edged Plateau United 2-1 in a keenly contested Matchday 5 encounter.

Plateau United responded shortly after the restart through Temitope Vincent’s equalizer in the 58th minute.
Coach Tunde Sanni’s substitutions swung the game back in Kwara United’s favour, with Afeez Bankole, Shola Abdulraheem, Wasiu Jimoh, and Chara Mubarak adding fresh energy.
The breakthrough came in the 79th minute when Johnmark Aule calmly finished to restore their lead.
Ogunribide Seun’s commanding display in midfield, coupled with his trademark long throws, earned him the Cyteck Man of the Match Award.
Speaking after the game, Coach Sanni praised his side’s resilience and dismissed reports of internal unrest. “As you can see, I received my full salary. If anything of that nature happens, it will be announced officially by our media unit, not outsiders,” he said.
The win lifts Kwara United to 7th on the NPFL log with 8 points from 5 matches.
They next host Abia Warriors on Sunday in Ilorin, with both sides looking to build on their midweek triumphs.
