NPFL: Kelvin Briggs Makes Statement Debut for Ikorodu City

Former FC Bethel Sporting forward Kelvin Briggs marked his official debut for Ikorodu City F.C. with an assured display in their Week 27 league clash against Bayelsa United F.C., which ended in a 1–1 home draw.

Handed the iconic No. 9 jersey, Briggs entered the fray at the start of the second half as part of a triple substitution in the 46th minute. Olanrewaju Molade and Chidera Oparaocha were also introduced, while Jaguar Uche, Tomiwa Awojobi, and Ayoola Ibrahim made way.

The striker needed little time to announce himself. In his 45 minutes of action, Briggs showcased sharp movement, composure on the ball, and a constant attacking threat that kept the opposition defence alert.

His positioning inside the box and willingness to press high up the pitch hinted at the qualities that convinced the club to secure his services.

Though he did not find the scoresheet, Briggs’ presence added fresh energy to Ikorodu City’s forward line and offered a glimpse of what supporters can expect in the coming weeks.

It was a solid beginning to a new chapter for the forward — one filled with promise. If his debut performance is anything to go by, bigger contributions may not be far away as he settles into life with Ikorodu City.
