Sports247 reports that the disciplinary measures follow reported security failures, hostile conduct towards match officials and visiting team officials, and an incident that left Kun Khalifat FC head coach Obinna Uzoho injured.
The Gombe-based club, popularly known as the Savannah Tigers, were found to have failed to provide adequate and effective security during the encounter, allowing unauthorised individuals to gain access to restricted areas.
According to the NPFL disciplinary notice, Doma United were fined ₦3 million for repeated failures to provide adequate and effective security at their home matches.
An additional ₦1 million fine was imposed over the hostile conduct of the club’s supporters towards match officials. The club was also fined another ₦1 million following gross misconduct directed at an official of the visiting team after the match.
Furthermore, Doma United must pay ₦250,000 as compensation towards the medical treatment of Kun Khalifat FC head coach Obinna Uzoho, who sustained an injury during the incident. The sanctions bring the club’s total financial liability to ₦5.25 million.
Beyond the financial penalties, the NPFL ordered Doma United to play their next three home fixtures without spectators. The decision follows the club’s repeated breaches of security requirements and is intended to address concerns surrounding safety at its home matches.
The punishment means the Savannah Tigers will temporarily lose the advantage of playing in front of their supporters. For a club seeking positive results in the 2026/27 NPFL campaign, the absence of home fans could present an additional challenge.
The disciplinary action also extended to the match commissioner assigned to the fixture. The official has been recommended for demotion to a lower league over alleged dereliction of duty, insufficient supervision and inadequate reporting of events during the match.
The recommendation highlights the responsibility of match officials and administrators to ensure that league fixtures are properly supervised and that incidents are accurately documented.
Doma United have also been warned to strengthen their security arrangements and educate their supporters about acceptable conduct during football matches.
The league cautioned that further breaches of its Framework and Rules could attract more severe sanctions. The warning reinforces the importance of protecting players, coaches, officials and supporters while maintaining order at match venues.
Despite the sanctions, Doma United retain the right to challenge the disciplinary decision. The club has been given 48 hours from receipt of the notice to appeal the punishments through the appropriate channels.
It remains to be seen whether the Savannah Tigers will accept the sanctions or exercise their right of appeal.
With ₦5.25 million in fines and three home matches behind closed doors, Doma United face significant consequences from the incidents surrounding their encounter against Kun Khalifat FC, as the NPFL moves to reinforce security standards and discipline across the league.
