NPFL: ‘Football Being What It Is’ – Kano Pillars’ Evans Ogenyi Reacts as Wikki Tourists Frustrate Sai Masu Gida in Kano

Kano Pillars were frustrated on Sunday after they fought from a goal down to force a 1-1 draw by Wikki Tourists in their Matchday 2 encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The full-capacity crowd had turned out in anticipation of a home victory returned home disappointed.

The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute through Ahmed Lamidi, before Mustapha Umar restored parity for Pillars on the stroke of halftime.

Despite their dominance, the hosts could not find a winner, leaving fans disappointed.

The result means Kano Pillars are still without a win this season, having lost their opening fixture 1-0 away to Abia Warriors.

With just one point from a possible six, the Sai Masu Gida find themselves in a difficult position on the NPFL log, despite high expectations following the appointment of Super Eagles legend Ahmed Musa as the club’s new General Manager.

Reacting after the game, head coach Evans Ogenyi admitted his frustration but remained philosophical.

“We prepared a team to start winning today, but football being what it is, it ended this way. We will take each match as they come,” he said.

For Wikki Tourists, the result capped a strong start to the campaign, as they now sit on four points from two matches.

They will return home with confidence to face Abia Warriors next, while Kano Pillars prepare for a testing clash against arch-rivals Katsina United.
