Finidi George expressed relief after Rivers United secured a 4–2 victory over Kun Kalifat FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League, ending a difficult run and restoring confidence within the squad.

Speaking after the match at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, the Technical Manager acknowledged the positive result but remained concerned about his team’s inefficiency in front of goal.
“In the opening minute of the game, we had a couple of chances missed. I have been worried about several missed chances,” Finidi told reporters.
Despite scoring four times, the former Super Eagles winger emphasized that the team must improve its conversion rate, particularly in home fixtures where they are expected to dominate.
The victory highlighted both strengths and lingering issues within the Rivers United setup. While the attacking unit showed flashes of quality, the inability to capitalize early on chances continues to be a recurring concern for the coaching staff.
Finidi also pointed to a broader issue within the Nigeria Premier Football League, noting a decline in goal-scoring output across the competition.
“The league as a whole has fallen short of goals. The highest goal scorer is on 10 as it stands,” he remarked, underlining what appears to be a systemic challenge affecting attacking productivity.
More striking, however, was his revelation about Rivers United’s internal statistics.
“In our team, our highest goal scorer is a defender, and we are at the position we are now. That’s how bad it was,” he added, reflecting on the unusual scoring distribution within the squad.
Despite these concerns, the win represents a crucial step forward for Rivers United as they look to build momentum in the latter stages of the season.
