NPFL FALLOUT: Struggling Plateau United Returns To Jos With False Narratives Against Ikorodu City

Following their defeat in Lagos to modest Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Ikorodu City, Plateau United, returned to Jos with false narratives.

Ikorodu City defeated Plateau United 2-1 in Sunday’s Matchday 13 fixture in the Nigeria top league, decided at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium.

Prior to the game on Sunday, the Jos-based team began their antics of spreading baseless and unhealthy stories against Ikorodu City, claiming that the club forced them to share the pitch for pre-match training session.

Meanwhile, it was Plateau United Head Coach Shola Adegun, who accepted that both teams can share the pitch and train together moments after Sporting Lagos and Osun United had finished their NNL game around 6pm on Saturday evening.

Ikorodu City have been unable to train on the pitch throughout the week as a result of events and programs being run at the stadium and it was expedient for both teams to feel the pitch before the league match on Sunday.

Stadium facilities in Lagos belongs to the Lagos State Sports Commission and not owned by Ikorodu City, but unfortunately only Onikan Stadium is available for use for about eight teams from the NNL to train and play their league matches.

During the half-time break when the game was goalless between Ikorodu and Plateau, some unauthorized members of the visiting team were trying to forcefully find their way to restricted area inside the stadium but were denied access by security officials.

The game ended with the host going top of the NPFL table with 24 points after recording a decent 2-1 victory over the visitors.

After the loss over the weekend, Plateau United whose performance was below expectations, returned to Jos spreading and sponsoring falsehood against Ikorodu City, in a failed attempt to deflect from their failure and responsibility to win the match on the pitch.
