NPFL Championship Playoffs: Bendel Insurance Forced To 1-1 Draw, Extend Unbeaten Run To 20

Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin were on Monday, June 5,2023 forced to 1-1 draw by Sunshine Stars of Akure in their second match of the ongoing 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) championship playoffs in Lagos.

Divine Nwachukwu struck in the 7th minute of play to put Insurance FC in front. It was the star Midfielder’s second goal of the season.

The Benin Arsenals,despite their early lead,still looked ambitious and thirsty for more goals as they continued to dominate play with Imade Osarenkhoe,Sarki and Divine Nwachukwu partnership threatening the Owena Wales area until the end of the half.

On resumption of the second half,both sides coaches, Monday Odigie and Edith Agoye made quick substitutions to strengthen their sides but the high tempo game remained balanced.

The Edith Agoye’s side came back into the game with Ekerette Udom’s goal which came in the 63rd minute following a goal mouth scramble.

All efforts by both sides to get maximum three points did not materialize as they share the spoils, leaving Insurance FC with two points from two matches

The Benin Arsenals have now extended their unbeaten run to 20 in the current football season to set new record.

Insurance FC and Lobi stars settled for a goalless draw on day one fixture at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan,Lagos .

Insurance FC equalled Akwa Utd 18 matches unbeaten record when they were forced to a 1-1 draw at relegated Nasarawa Utd on the last day of the the regular season at the New Jos Stadium in Plateau state,and set a new record of 19 matches unbeaten run with Lobi Stars goalless draw

Insurance FC are facing Enyimba FC again on Wednesday,June 7. Kick off time is 2:00 PM at the same Mobolaji Johnson Stadium.

The Benin Arsenals defeated Enyimba FC 1-0 in Benin and ran away with 1-1 in the revised fixture in Aba in the regular abridged league season, and finished as group A leaders with 34 points without losing any match and have won all their FA cup matches to reach the final with Rangers International.
