NPFL: Aweroro Demands Improvement Despite 3SC’s Hard-Fought Win

Head coach Nurudeen Aweroro has called for continued improvement following Shooting Stars SC’s narrow 2–1 victory over visiting Kano Pillars FC.

Speaking from the sidelines after the final whistle, Aweroro delivered an honest assessment of his team’s performance, acknowledging the effort while highlighting areas that require urgent attention.

“We have done a lot of work ahead of the game,” he said. “We utilised those on the bench to see through a narrow win, and the starting XI had to dig deep.”

The coach praised the collective effort but admitted concerns over recurring defensive lapses, particularly from set-piece situations — an issue that has surfaced in several recent matches.

“Conceding a set-piece goal in several games needs more work,” he noted, emphasizing the need for better organisation and concentration during dead-ball scenarios.

Looking ahead, Aweroro made it clear that team selection will remain performance-based as they prepare for their next fixture against Abia Warriors FC.

“Of course, our matches decide our selection as we approach Abia Warriors next,” he explained.

He also pointed to the need for sharper attacking efficiency. “Our goalscoring ability needs to be worked on, and we promise to return with good results for the fans.”

While the victory provided valuable points, Aweroro’s message was firm — progress continues, but higher standards are required as the season unfolds.
