Ikorodu City continued their impressive run in the South-West derby, edging Shooting Stars SC 1–0 thanks to an early strike from Joseph Arumala that set the tone for a fiercely contested encounter.

The decisive moment arrived just two minutes into the match. After Shooting Stars goalkeeper reacted sharply to deny Tosin Oyedokun’s initial effort, Arumala showed great awareness and composure to rifle the rebound into the roof of the net, sending the home fans into early celebration and handing Ikorodu City a precious lead.
Shooting Stars attempted to respond with greater urgency after the break, prompting tactical changes from the bench.
In 56 minutes, head coach introduced fresh legs as Chidera replaced Abayomi Ayodeji, while new signing Ibrahim Ayoola made his debut, coming on for James Jonah in search of an equaliser.
Further adjustments followed in the 80th minute, with Bada Moses introduced for Tosin Oyedokun as the visitors pushed forward.
Despite sustained pressure and late probing from the Oluyole Warriors, Ikorodu City remained disciplined at the back, managing the game intelligently and limiting clear-cut chances.
Their defensive organisation and game management ensured they protected the slim advantage until the final whistle.
