Nigeria Premier Football League club Abia Warriors FC have suspended Technical Adviser Imama Amapakabo and Chief Coach Bethel Oji over alleged acts of insubordination.
The club announced the decision in an official letter dated May 11, 2026, and signed by chairman John Sam Obuh.
According to the statement, the suspension followed reported incidents during Abia Warriors’ FA Cup semi-final clash against Ahudiyannem FC and their Nigeria Premier Football League fixture against Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri.
The management accused the coaching crew of disregarding several directives and advice relating to team selection and tactical adjustments in both matches.
The club stated that the alleged refusal to comply with instructions contributed to defeats that “brought embarrassment to the club and the entire state.”
Abia Warriors confirmed that both officials have been suspended from all club activities pending the outcome of investigations into the incidents.
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu has now been placed in temporary charge of the team alongside his assistants until further notice.
The club also directed the suspended coaches to cooperate fully with the investigation panel whenever they are invited.
