NPFL 2022/23 : South West Derby Ends In Stalemate As Remo Stars Hold 3SC In Ibadan

Shooting Stats Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, had their winning streak halted on Sunday, after they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Remo Stars of Ikenne, at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

The Oluyole Warriors, who approached the NPFL Matchday 13 encounter with determination to continue with their winning streak, were undone by poor marksmanship, especially in the opening half of the South west derby.

The coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored side’s flourishing start was capped with a breathtaking strike in the 10th minute by Ghanaian import, Desmond Agbekpornu.

The central defender flashed a blistering shot past goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, after being set up by skipper Opeoluwa Olufemi.

Minutes after, Samuel Ayanrinde should have doubled the lead for the homers, but had his close range shot saved by the Remo Stars goalie, who pulled other saves to keep the score 1-0 at halftime.

The second half was more fierce as the visitors made some incursions into the 3SC goal area in search of the equaliser.

Shooting Stars’ goal scorer, Agbekpornu was forced to exit the game due to injury and was replaced by Aniyikaye Adeleye as the tempo of the match increased.

Remo Stars however got back on level terms in the 69th minute through substitute Aniekeme Okon, who headed past goalkeeper Okemute Odah in goal for 3SC.

The draw leaves the Ibadan soccer lords on the seventh position with 17 points, with the Oluyole Warriors making a trip to Maiduguri next Sunday for a matchday 14 fixture against bottom place El- Kanemi Warriors.
