NPFL 2022/23 : NPFL Referees Told To Avoid Distractions

Irrespective of challenges encountered at match venues, the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, has advised members on duty to adopt means of overcoming obstacles posed at match venues to enable them maintain perfect officiating.

As part of parting words to active referees involved in officiating of the league, President of the NRA, Otunba Tade Azeez asked his members to devise means of overcoming petty tactics adopted by clubs and their officials to gain undue advantage during matches. He further counseled them to be good ambassadors of the association.

A reasonable number of International referees and seasoned assessors are on parade this weekend as the matches get to crucial stages. A retired FIFA referee and National Training Officer, NTO of the NRA, Olori Jumoke Adebisi-Odeniran is already in Benin City, the Edo State Capital to oversee how FIFA woman referee from Lagos, Yemisi Akintoye and two other FIFA assistant referees, Hope Igho and Mohammed Yakubu will perform in the Insurance vs Kwara game.

As Enyimba play host to Plateau in Aba, the man in charge of physical fitness of the referees in Nigeria and retired FIFA referee of Edo council, Engr Emmanuel Imiere will be on the stands to observe the fitness level as well knowledge of the laws of the game of three FIFA referees led by Grema Mohammed of Bornu, while a guru in the technical aspect of the laws of the game and fresh from assessment of referees at CAF competition, Rtd FIFA Peter Edibe has a team of referees including CAF Elite A ranked Assistant Referee, Samuel Pwadutakam, to monitor in Ibadan for the interesting south west derby; Shooting vs Remo.

Immediate past chairman of Bauchi council, Ibrahim Zailani has another group of referees led by a woman FIFA referee, Alaba Fumilayo of Ogun to ascertain their handling of the game for the Lobi vs Abia Warriors.

An Army officer, Col Nicholas Achikasim will be on duty, this time at the Bauchi Township Stadium as Assessor to see how a member of his FCT Council, Chidi O and three others will respond to application of the laws of the game for the Wikki vs Bayelsa match.
