As week three of the NPFL gets underway today, President of the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, Otunba Tade Azeez has reminded his members of the seriousness attached to each game.
Admonishing appointed officials on firm and fair officiating, Otunba Tade Azeez said that the NRA attaches premium in each game hence below performances won’t be tolerated.
He further reminded the officials that the template for modern day refereeing must be applied for the good of the game.
Another trusted whistle man who showed excellent reflexes in matches handled last season, and also product of the recent FIFA MA Course in Abuja, Madaki Abdulmalik of FCT, has another big task today to prove his mettle in Aba; Enyimba vs Rivers Utd as international woman referee who handled the finals of the CAF Women Club Competition, Fifa Mimisen Iyorhe of Benue council returns to domestic scene as Assistant Referee 2. The match that has a retired premier league referee from Lagos, Adigwe Gabriel of Lagos as Assessor also has Akin Kayode of Ondo on the lines too.
The all North West derby in Katsina involving home side and visiting neigbours, Kano Pillars has a high riding Shina Iranloye of Kwara Council as the referee. assisted by capable hands where an accountant based in FCT, Philip Alkali is the assessor.
While the National Training Officer of the NRA, Olori Jumoke Adebisi-Odeniran will supervise the officiating crew in Ilorin for Kwara vs Wikki, Alhaji Mohammed Odihili, Deputy National Financial Secretary is for the Lobi vs Shooting. Teams paired for the two matches are in for good officiating if the antecedents of the referees; Habibu Ghali and Ben Onyika of Kano and Akwa Ibom councils respectively are considered. They referees including the assistants have been in top form.
