NPFL 2020/2021: We want to defeat Enugu Rangers and use it as a prelude for our match against Bloemfontein Celtic – Afelokhai

*Says his team is in good shape to defeat the flying antelopes

Still waxing in the Joy of his team’s impressive 2-0 away win over Bloemfontein Celtic in the 1st Leg of their CAF Confederation Cup match, Rivers United Goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai has admitted that him and his team mates are geared up ahead of their opening NPFL game against Enugu Rangers, as they prepare for the return leg of their CAF Confederation Cup match against the South Africans.

The Shotstopper has expressed optimism ahead of their match against the flying antelopes saying that they want to win the encounter today, as it will be a morale booster ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup return match against Bloemfontein Celtic.

In a chat with Sports 247, the Rivers United number 1 assured their supporters of Victory in today’s match,even though the match would be played behind close doors, due to the Global Pandemic (Covid 19). He also went further to acknowledge Enugu Rangers as being a good team and coached by a great manager.

“Enugu Rangers, no doubt, is a good side and they have a good coach in Salisu Yusuf, who we know well. I believe our team is in good shape now and we the players are ready to face any opposition that comes our way.

“It is the first league game of the NPFL and it’s a fixture we cannot afford to handle with levity because we need to start well and by God’s we will win,” he said, adding that the fans should expect the best from the club against Enugu Rangers.

“The match against Enugu Rangers will be a prelude to what the fans should expect from us in the CAF Confederation Cup’s second leg tie against South Africa’s Bloemfontein Celtic. I know by God’s grace, it is going to be a good match for against the Flying Antelopes as much as we will expect it to be against Bloemfontein Celtic, when we meet at home,” he said.
