NPFL 2019: GO FOR THE LEAGUE TITLE …AKPABIO CHARGES AKWA UTD

As the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League season is set to kick-off this weekend, Patron of Akwa United football club Sir Emem Akpabio has encouraged the team to set their sight on winning their maiden NPFL title this season.

Sir Akpabio gave the charge at his residence in Ukana after the team’s training session at his facility on Wednesday evening. He charged the players on discipline, dedication, determination and respect for constituted authorities, stressing that the team’s success is a success for all Akwa Ibom people and fans of the club.

“It’s a thing of joy to have a big club like Akwa United come and train in my facility. As you begin your campaign in the league this season, know that millions of Akwa Ibom people and lovers of this beautiful game are looking up to Akwa United to give them something to cheer about and that can only be the NPFL title.

“I know you will do well this season, the club has given you a platform, so whenever you step on to the pitch, remember you have to play for yourselves, your families, many admirers and for your wonderful supporters like me. We can only provide you the enabling environment for you to succeed in your careers.

“The future is yours and we can only be part of it by talking about your progress and successes. Use Akwa United to launch your careers to the next level. We want to see you play for the Super Eagles and watch you play in the best leagues around the world.

“To succeed in life irrespective of your career, you must keep calm and be disciplined, and you must have that respect for your leaders. That is why I charge you to be focused and show respect to your coaches at all times. Above all, have a firm believe in God and trust in Him because He is the only one who can reward your efforts”.

Sir Emem Akpabio made a cash donation to the team and promised his continued support to the team in all her endeavours.

Earlier, Chairman of Akwa United Elder Paul Bassey on behalf of the team, expressed gratitude to Sir Emem Akpabio for allowing the team train at his residence and thanked him for his usual support to the team.

“On behalf of Akwa United football club, We say thank you for all your support, especially for allowing us have our training sessions here in your facility. We really appreciate your support and we will do our best to ensure we reciprocate this gesture by winning the NPFL trophy this season”.

The Promise Keepers who ended last season in fourth position after the play-offs in Lagos, will begin their quest for a maiden NPFL title with an away tie against Warri Wolves this weekend in Warri.
