NPFL 2019/2010: ‘WE DID NOT LOSE ANYBODY TO KATSINA ATTACK, APPROPRIATE MEASURES MUST BE TAKEN’ – Kano Pillars Chairman

The chairman of Kano Pillars Football club, Alhaji Surajo Shaaibu Yahaya aka Jambul has confirmed that nobody lost his life in an attacked targeted at the Sai Masu Gida fans by hooligans at Muhammad Dikko stadium, Katsina after the 1-1 draw between host, Katsina Utd FC and the four-time league champions, Kano Pillars FC played on Wednesday.

Alhaji Surajo Shaaibu Yahaya made this known when he visited some Pillars FC fans that had been massacred after the game at one of the hospitals in Katsina.

He said that four fans of the Sai Masu Gida are hospitalized due to various degrees of injuries suffered in some part of their bodies during the attack.

The affected fans are Isa Amin Fagge, Rufa’i Isyaku Fagge, Saifullahi Nasarawa and Abubakar Abba Kurna.

The chairman condemned the attack and described it as unfortunate and measures most be taken so as to brought the perpetrators to book.

“Those who attacked us are Football hooligans not real supporters to the Nigeria League and we as leaders can’t fold our arms and allow some few individuals to destroyed the long relationship between Kano and Katsina states, Chairman said.

He further confirmed that both the players, officials and fans of the club arrived the Pyramid City safely with the help of members of the Nigeria Police Force who escorted them from Katsina through Mashi, Daura to kazaure and then finally to Kano while the four injured fans would leave Katsina on Thursday morning with the Chairman to Kano where they will continue to receive treatment until they recover fully.

“Thank God they are responding to the treatment and we prayed to Almighty Allah for their quick recovery.

The National cup holders have been kept hostage at Muhammad Dikko stadium for over two hours after the match by hoodlums until the security agents came for their rescue by dispersing the attackers.
