NPFL 2019/20 MD 22: NASARAWA UNITED TAKE BATTLE TO WIKKI TOURISTS IN REVERSED FIXTURE

Basking in the euphoria of their 2-1 victory against Rangers of Enugu in a reschedueled midweek tie in Lafia,
Nasarawa United FC are aiming to extend their unbeaten streak to four games in a roll as they travel to trade tackles with northern neighbours, Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in the Nigerian Professional Football League matchday 22.

The resurgent Nasarawa United are tied both in points(25) and goals difference(-1) with Wikki Tourists but a step ahead of Wikki on the league log with the Solid Miners placed 13th while the north-eastern-based Wikki Tourists, nicknamed Giant Elephants, are 14th.

During the first fixture in Lafia, United lost by 1-0 to Wikki Tourists, and the Club is determined to get its own pound of flesh from their hosts on Sunday.

Statistically, United have won four of their last five games, losing just once, garnering twelve points from a possible fifteen, whereas Wikki go into the Sunday clash with one win, three losses and one draw from their last five games, picking four points from a possible fifteen.

On the road, the Solid Miners have amassed five points from three games this season, while their weekend hosts,Wikki have also garnered five points from the same number of games as United.

United battled out of the drop zone for the first time since the beginning of the 2019/2020 League Season following victories in three straight home games under the new leadership headed by Barr. Isaac Danladi, and they don’t appear to stop the winning streak any soon as the new leadership is poised on stabilizing the team on the league table.

The clash against Wikki Tourists will be homecoming for Bala Nikyu, Technical Adviser of Nasarawa United and striker, Abubakar Lawal, who has so far scored six goals for the Lafia-based club this term, as both have had stints with Wikki Tourists in the past, as Coach and player respectively.

United’s Coach Bala Nikyu will put friendship aside until after regulation time to share pleasantries with his Wikki Colleague, Usman Abd’Allah.

The Wikki Tourists versus Nasarawa United match comes up on Sunday,1st March, 2020, at the refurbished 25,000 capacity Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, by 4pm, local time.
