NPFL 2019/20: GOLDEN BOOT BATTLE TIGTHENS UP

It was goals galore in the match day 24 of the NPFL as the strikers in the battle for the golden boot proved their credentials in front of goal.

Akwa United striker, Ndifreke Effiong continued his good form in front of goal against Katsina United after he netted his 11th goal of the season in the 8th minute of the game. The goal made sure Effiong stays on top of the goal scorers’ chart of the league.

Joining Effiong on top of the chart after a man of the match performance against Jigawa Golden Stars, Auwalu Ali of Kano Pillars is firing from all cylinders. Ali scored twice on Sunday taking his goal tally to 11 and helping his team climb up to 4th position.

Keeping tabs on the top two and fresh from a long spell out, Plateau United’s Ibrahim Mustapha scored against Nasarawa United to take his goal tally for the season to 9, equaling Victor Mbaoma’s number of goals.

While Enugu Rangers’ striker, Israel Abia is stuck on 10 goals but providing assists for teammates, Enyimba FC forward, Stanley Dimgba helped his team to a 3-0 thrashing of Sunshine stars. His beautiful strike was his 7th in the league for the season, while teammate Martins Usule was also on target.

Charles Atshimene scored at the death of the match to secure three points for Warri Wolves against MFM FC taking his goal tally to 7 while Chukwuemeka Obioma scored his 6th goal of the season against Lobi Stars.

With match day 25 coming up tomorrow, the defenders have more difficult tasks to stop the in-form strikers from scoring more goals.
