NPFL 2019/20: Eguma, Ogunbote nominated for monthly award

The League Bloggers Awards have announced nominees for the coach and player of the month award for January.

As announced on their twitter handle, the quartet of Stanley Eguma, Abdullahi Biffo, Sulaimon Dogo and Gbenga Ogunbote were nominated for the coach of the month award.
Sulaimon Dogo led Sunshine Stars of Akure to 3 wins in the month under review with an away win at Wikki Tourist. The Akure gunners only fell to Lobi Stars in the month with 2 draws against Kano Pillars and Kwara United.

Gbenga Ogunbote led Lobi Stars back to the top of the table with 4 wins in January. Lobi stars’ only loss in the month was to Rivers United away from home while Stanley Eguma of Rivers United whose team currently sit third on the log won 3 games in January, drawing twice and losing once.

Kwara United’s Abdullahi Biffo led his team to an away win in Uyo against Akwa United, after defeating Katsina United and Abia Warriors at home. They later played a nil-nil draw with Sunshine Stars before falling to Adamawa United away from home.

The player of the month nominees include Kwara United’s goal keeper, Abdullateef Ishola who kept 3 clean sheets in 5 league games in the month. Team mate, Alao Danbani also makes the nominee list after scoring three goals in the month.

Kano pillars’ Auwali Ali who scored twice against Sunshine Stars of Akure makes the list after netting thrice for his club side in the month under review while Ndifreke Effiong of Akwa United who scored a hat trick in the month is the final nominee for the award of the month.

The winners of the awards will be announced next Wednesday.
