NPFL 19/20: PLATEAU, LOBI AND RIVERS TIE AT THE TOP AHEAD OF MD14

With things tied up at the top of the table after midweek actions, match day 14 is looking to be a crucial weekend in the season as the three top teams, Plateau United, Lobi Stars and Rivers United will be looking to take initiatives to go three points clear of one another.

Plateau United lost during the week to Katsina United for the fourth time in a row, but now have another uphill task on Sunday when they face Akwa United who are unbeaten in 5 games. The tie goes beyond actions on the pitch as both managers will be facing their former employers.

Akwa United coach, Kenedy Boboye won the NPFL title in 2017 with Plateau united while Plateau coach, Abdu Maikaba won the 2017 AITEO cup with Akwa United. While Boboye has rejuvenated Akwa United after a poor start to the season under John Obuh, his counterpart has been impressive with the Jos club side since the start of the season.

In Makurdi, Lobi Stars will play host to MFM FC on Sunday. Tied on points with league leaders, Gbenga Ogunbote and his boys know that anything short of three points will be a disappointing results while MFM after a good run of form on the road will be looking to salvage something from Benue state.

Meanwhile, Rivers United who also have found themselves at the summit of the table tied on points with Lobi and Plateau will be hungry for three points when they face, neighbors Dakkada FC in Uyo. Although, it will be difficult for the visitors as the host have been remarkable at home defeating big guns like Enyimba this season.

Enyimba and Enugu Rangers will not be in action as they both have fixtures in the CAF confederation cup group stages but there will be relegation battle between Jigawa Golden Stars and Adamawa United.
