Nothing Positive’: Fuludu Slams Nigerian Football After World Cup Failure

Former Nigeria international Edema Fuludu has voiced strong concerns over the current state of Nigerian football following the country’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Fuludu described the situation as deeply troubling, insisting that there has been little to celebrate in recent times regarding the nation’s football fortunes.

“There has not been anything positive about Nigerian football,” he said.

The former midfielder blamed the decline on systemic issues within the football structure, particularly pointing fingers at the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation.

“Except reforms come from above, nothing will change,” he added.

Fuludu expressed doubts about the ability of the current administration to drive meaningful change, stressing that confidence in the system is at an all-time low.

“I don’t trust the current setup to fix things,” he stated.

With Nigeria now officially missing out on another World Cup, Fuludu believes the country must accept the reality and begin rebuilding.

“The dream is gone; it’s time to chart a new course,” he noted.

He concluded by urging stakeholders to prioritize long-term reforms, emphasizing that only a complete overhaul of the system can restore Nigerian football to its former glory.
