Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has dismissed rumours of any misunderstanding with forward Gift Monday, insisting that the striker remains an integral part of his squad as Nigeria continues preparations for next year’s global tournaments.
Speaking confidently about squad harmony and selection depth, Madugu said the competition for attacking roles in the team has never been stronger. “I have no issues at all with Gift. She is very much part of my plans and will surely play her part in our quest for global success,” he said.

The coach, who led the Falcons through a series of impressive performances in recent fixtures, emphasized that squad rotation and healthy competition are essential for maintaining balance and intensity in attack. “We currently have very strong competition for the forward position,” he explained. “Every player is pushing hard, and that’s what we need if we want to compete with the best in the world.”
Madugu’s reassurance comes amid speculation that Gift Monday’s limited appearances in recent matches could indicate friction within the camp. However, his statement makes it clear that selection decisions are purely tactical.
As Nigeria looks ahead to the upcoming continental qualifiers and the 2026 Women’s World Cup campaign, the coach’s calm and measured approach reflects his intent to build unity and depth within the squad.
“Every player knows their value,” Madugu added. “We are building a team that can go far — and Gift will definitely play her part in that journey.”
