“No Pressure, Injury Free” Tobi Amusan Reacts After Clocking Another Season’s Best at Paris Diamond League

Nigeria’s sprint hurdles star, Tobi Amusan, has expressed delight after producing another season’s best performance at the Paris Diamond League, saying she is pleased to be injury-free and unfazed by the pressure of competing at the highest level.

Amusan, who continues to build momentum ahead of the World Athletics Championships, admitted that she is not a fan of competing in warm conditions but remained determined to deliver regardless of the weather.

“I do not like the warm weather at all, but whatever the weather, I was going to come out here and kill it. Execution was alright,” she said after the race.

The former world champion also highlighted the importance of staying healthy after battling injury setbacks in recent seasons.

“I am just happy being injury free. The pressure does not get to me,” Amusan added.

The Nigerian hurdler credited her support system and self-belief for helping her stay composed on the big stage.

“I have a grace, which is the very strong system around me and that finish line. So, I am never worried about pressure on the night.”

Reflecting on the unpredictable nature of the women’s 100m hurdles, Amusan explained that every race presents a different challenge.

“My approach to the hurdles varies. Sometimes, you are thinking, ‘What has just happened?’ On other days, it is really sloppy and I still come out and run a fast time. I try to take a shot at every race.”

Looking ahead, Amusan confirmed that her next outing will be at the Prefontaine Classic, although she is yet to finalize her competition schedule beyond that.

“I’ll be competing at the Prefontaine Classic next, but I am yet to decide where to race after that.”

Amusan’s latest performance marks another season’s best as she continues her impressive resurgence and fine-tunes her preparations for the major championships later this year.
