With the 13th African Games scheduled to take place from March 8 to 24 in Ghana, Nigeria aims to improve upon their fourth-place finish at the previous edition in Morocco in 2019, where they lost to the hosts in the third-place match.

Expressing his ambitions for the team’s performance, Ajayi emphasized his determination to surpass their previous outing, stating, “There is no commander that wants to lead an army to the war with the aim of losing.”

Ajayi also highlighted the extensive preparation undertaken by the team, noting the three-week training camp facilitated by the federation before the ministry’s involvement. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to thoroughly assess the players before finalizing the squad.

Confident in the selected 12 players and buoyed by the support received, Ajayi expressed optimism about their chances of securing a podium finish. He emphasized the team’s target and attributed their readiness to the meticulous planning and efforts invested in their preparation.

The Nigerian women’s volleyball team is slated to depart the country on March 11, gearing up for their first game, the date of which is yet to be determined. With a focused mindset and a collective aim of achieving success, the team sets its sights on making a strong impact at the 2024 African Games and bringing glory to Nigeria in the realm of volleyball.
