Starting with their performance in the NNL, Ayomide acknowledged that the team had a slow start to the season, experiencing losses in both away and home games.

However, he highlighted the positive turnaround, noting that the team had played four consecutive matches without a loss.

While expecting a victory in the derby, Ayomide expressed gratitude for the point earned through the draw.

Looking ahead to the next match, Ayomide conveyed the team’s confidence, describing the players as hungry for a victory at home.

He expressed high expectations for the upcoming game and emphasized the team’s determination to secure a win.

Switching to the topic of the Super Eagles’ performance in AFCON 2023, Ayomide shared his observations from friendly matches, stating that the team’s standard appeared slow compared to their last Nations Cup victory in 2013.

Despite this, he expressed belief in the Super Eagles, citing individual stars like Victor Osimhen, the current African footballer of the year, as players who could elevate the team’s performance.

“Talking about the Super Eagles, we have played a couple of friendly matches. We see that our standard is too slow, compared to our last Nations Cup that we won in 2013.

But notwithstanding, I still believe in the Super Eagles. We have some individual stars that can carry the team, like the likes of the current African footballer of the year, which is Victor Osimhen. We believe with Victor Osimhen, we are going to do well in our games.” Benjamin told Sports247.

When asked about Ahmed Musa’s role as captain, Ayomide expressed confidence in Musa’s captainship qualities, describing him as a very good captain with the spirit to lead the team effectively.

As Abia Comet continues its NNL campaign, Ayomide’s insights provide a glimpse into the team’s mindset, resilience, and aspirations for success.

Football enthusiasts will eagerly follow their journey in the league, and fans of the Super Eagles will hope for an impressive showing in the ongoing AFCON.
