Elijah Chukwu’s 69th-minute clinical finish condemned Osun United to their 6th loss of the season in an explosive week 13 encounter held at the famous Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday, May 9, 2021.

The match, which was stopped at 44th minute on Saturday, May 8, due to heavy and windy downpour continued on Sunday morning and United could have led within the short minute the first half lasted but Niyi Balogun’s chance scrolled past the sticks.

The second half began immediately and United were better-off in every department with tikitaka approach, clinical passes and mesmerizing displays from the rear, marshalled by Afolabi Olatunbosun and Jerry Okon, to the midfield perfectly coordinated by Captain Hakeem Olalere whose combination with Yomi Olaoke, Adio Monsuru and Alani Azeez broke the porous defence of Brillars severally. They were however unlucky as several golden opportunities created resulted in ‘no assist’ as Niyi Balogum didn’t come to the party to bury those begging chances.

The already caged Brillars came out of their shell in the 69th with their only on-target attempt when Aliu Adedayo screwed past Mubarak Oyelade from the outside right to locate unmarked Elijah Chukwu who fired past in-form United shot-stopper, Arinze Okoro from the 6 yards to the delight of ex-international, Nduka Ugbade and others Technical Crew of Giant Brillars.

The result means Osun United remain on 15 points in 13 games while ‘Nwa Boys’ have now garnered 17 points. The ‘Omoluabi Giants’ will on Saturday, May 16 in the Week 14 fixtures welcome Delta Force to the Osogbo Township Stadium while Giant Brillars will play host to Rovers of Calabar in Enugu.
