NNL MD 2: Insurance suffer late goal defeat at Bayelsa Utd

Bendel Insurance FC of Benin could not maintain their steam till the blast of final whistle at the Samson Siasia Stadium this evening as they surrendered to their host Bayelsa Utd by a lone goal after 90 minutes of regulations time.

The Benin arsenals however gave a good account of themselves in the enterprising and breathtaking encounter which dragged to 96 minutes.

Wisdom Magbisa scored the only goal of the game for Bayelsa United at 94 minutes via unintercepted free kick to break the visitors’ heart.

The Benin arsenals had fought gallantly, hoping for a stalemate after 90 minutes and expiration of three added minutes.

Insurance were on top of their group B2 with three points before the game in Yenagoa, following their 2-0 win over J. Atete in their week one game in Benin last weekend.

It was an exciting outcome for Depriye Tembowe, manager of Bayelsa Utd who lost their first game at Crown FC 3-1, but mixed feelings for Insurance handler who afterwards consoled his boys by his kind words, saying that they fought gallantly.

” I was not disappointed by your performance. Don’t see yourselves as losers in the game that just ended because you fought gallantly, but let’s go back home and work harder ahead of our next game.” Coach Bernard Ogbe said.

Insurance will be hosting Rovers FC of Calabar in the week three game at the University of Benin Sports Complex, next weekend.
