NNL issues warning: Clubs face ₦500,000 fee as October 23 registration deadline looms

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has warned participating clubs to complete their registration submissions by October 23, 2026, with failure to meet the deadline potentially putting their participation in the 2026/2027 season at risk.

With preparations for the new campaign entering a crucial stage, the league has directed club administrators to submit all outstanding registration documents before the deadline.

The directive places additional pressure on teams still completing their administrative requirements, particularly with the season scheduled to begin on October 31.

According to the information released by the league, clubs are expected to treat the registration process as a priority and avoid delays that could affect their eligibility for the upcoming campaign.

NNL Chief Operating Officer Danlami Alanana stressed the importance of meeting the stipulated dates, warning that the league would not extend the deadline.

The league has also indicated that clubs that fail to meet the requirements will be liable to an additional fee of ₦500,000, adding a financial consequence to the registration process.

The warning comes as the NNL continues preparations for another season of Nigeria’s second-tier professional football competition.

Registration is a key part of those preparations, allowing the league to complete the necessary administrative checks before clubs begin their competitive campaigns.

The deadline for collecting players’ licences has been fixed for October 30, giving teams a separate date to complete the process ahead of the opening fixture.

The 2026/2027 season is scheduled to open on October 31 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, where Heartland FC will host Crown FC of Ogbomoso in a Conference A encounter.
The match will serve as the campaign’s curtain-raiser, while the remaining opening-round fixtures are scheduled for November 7.

With the opening match just days away, clubs must now ensure that their paperwork is complete and that all registration requirements have been met.

The NNL’s message is clear: clubs must meet the stipulated requirements to avoid unnecessary administrative and financial complications before the new season begins.
