NNL Frowns At Alleged Attack On Referees In Zaria

Management of Nigeria National League (NNL), has completely frowned at an alleged case of assault reported against Kebbi United in its match day three tie, in the Northern conference A2 decided at the Dogarawa Township Stadium, Zaria , Kaduna home ground of Green Berets Football club.

The report states that: Assistant coach of Kebbi United Haliru Umar committed an intentional act of physical violence at the first Assistant Referee Awoyinka S. from Kwara state.

That coach Haliru Umar encroached the pitch during the course of play and punched referee Awoniyi on his left eye.

Chief Operational Officer of the league Emmanuel Adesanya who decried the incident said it is “Unacceptable and a violation of the tenets we keep preaching, our summary jurisdiction team will critically appraise the development, we await the official match report both from the referees and match commissioner and will then come out with pronouncement to be imposed on the offenders”

The match between Green Berets and Kebbi United stood at 1-0 before it was put on hold by the match commissioner at the 79th minute .

Kebbi United scored a goal that was disallowed ,Kebbi refused to continue play and the referee after observing the mandatory time period ended the game.
