NNL Condemns Assault On Match Officials In Awka

The headship of the Nigeria National League (NNL),has wholly condemned news of physical attack on match officials in its match day ten decided Saturday 10 June,2023 at the Awka City Stadium Anambra.

Gory and disturbing pictures making the rounds showed the extent of assault inflicted upon the football umpires to the charging of NNL Head of Operations ,Mr.Emmanuel Adesanya who described the ugly development as uncivilized and unacceptable.

In his words: “This is Barbarous act and a demonstration of madness. How can players of a club do this to referees for no whatever reason.

“We await the Match officials reports, we shall ensure the culprits are punished in accordance with the rule book of NNL”

Referee Charwal Wilfred from Delta state had his head broken and in a pool of blood, his assistants Asoluku Ihuoma from Imo State referees Council a and Uhuegbu Femi of Delta state Council had various degrees of injury.

Nigeria National League is yet to know what happened to the fourth official Anaekwe Chinenye of Anambra State Council and Match Commissioner Oyekezie Godwin Ekene from Enugu State.

A 3rd minutes goal scored by Giant Brillars in the Southern Conference group B4 final game in the regular season,ensured the Enugu based side took all three points in the South East derby at the Awka City Stadium.
