The chairman of the lower division Nigerian National League (NNL), George Aluo has promised that this season’s second-tier promotion play-offs tagged Super-8 will be more exciting than ever, Sports247 reports.
While shedding light on plans and fixtures leading up to the 2025 NNL Super-8 billed for next month, Aluo pointed out that the emergence of three former top-flight clubs in the hunt for tickets back to the top-flight Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) has already ignited expectations of great matches ahead in the NNL play-offs.

Aluo, who was a renowned sports editor before turning to football administration, enthused: “(You should expect nothing but the best) once you see the quality of teams that have already qualified from Conferences C and D … Yobe Dessert Stars, Wikki Tourist, Barau, and Doma. It already promises to be exciting.
“Doma wants to go back to the premiership; Wikki wants to go back as well. Yobe also wants to be in the premiership. Barau, despite being newcomers, want to prove critics wrong and surprise everybody by getting to the premiership after just one year in the NNL.”
Aluo went on to suggest that the addition of four southern teams from the NNL’s A and B conferences will create room for even greater bolts of excitement in the forthcoming Super-8, as the contest would be tougher in the chase of just four tickets into the NPFL.
“You can imagine how these four teams that have already qualified will play good football when they come to the Super-8.
“Four more matches to go in Conferences A and B; but we can already see the quality of teams that are coming out from there too. So, we are going to see an exciting Super-8 in June,” Aluo assured
