NNL 2021/22 : Heroic Oladeji Savages A Point For Warri Wolves In Oba

Goalkeeper Joshua Oladeji stood his ground to savage a priceless point for Warri Wolves, as the Seasiders played a 1 – 1 draw with Nnewi United on Saturday during a Matchday Ten encounter of the Nigeria National League, NNL, campaign at the Rojenny Stadium Oba-Ontisha in Anambra State.

Oladeji’s resolve to keep a clean sheet earlier on was breached by the hosts in the 17 minutes, after they had gone into the lead from the penalty spot.

That lead was temporary.

Warri Wolves were awarded their own penalty few minutes before halftime mark.

Tega Ebetomame stepped up to convert and scored his first goal for the Seasiders on the road.

The resumption of the second half took a dramatic twist three minutes into the period.

Nnewi United were awarded another penalty, but Warri Wolves goalkeeper Joshua Oladeji firmly palmed the ball away to keep the score tie at 1 – 1.

Not deterred by the near dramatic shape the match had taken, Warri Wolves knocked the ball around with purpose and intent to win for greater part of the second period, with the hosts relying on occasional counter attack to pounce the Wolves at the rear.

Against the run of play, Nnewi United were awarded yet another penalty deep into the final ten minutes of the second half.

Oladeji dived to right side with great athleticism and saved the spot kick to the sheer admiration of the neutrals.

At the blast of the final whistle, Warri Wolves shared the spoils with Nnewi United in a one all draw

Warri Wolves have now moved to the top of the NNL Southern Conference Group B2 table with 16 points, with Go-Round playing Bayelsa United in Omoku on Sunday in a South South derby.
