NNL 2020/21: Honors Even In Ogwasi-Uku As Delta Force FC Were Held By Vandrezzer FC

Not the desired result but not a bad one either as Delta Force Football club started its NNL 2020/2021 campaign with a home draw against Vandrezzer FC of Lagos.

The Okowa boys playing at the J J Okocha Stadium in Ogwasi-Uku were the better side by a good margin but had nothing to show for their prolonged dominance as they missed chances upon chances in the game especially in the first 20 minutes of the encounter.

Coach Austin Chinwendu put up a near formidable side with notable players still out injured. Emmanuel Ihezuo had the first chance of the game as he was played through on goal by Left-back Divine Ukadike but Ihezuo could only locate the foot of the upright much to the dismay of few social distancing spectators.

A few minutes later, Ihezuo was at it again with another costly miss. This time feeding off a beautiful knockdown by ever industrious Joel Ajibola but the striker having sat two Vandrezzer FC’s defenders on the floor, surprisingly could not convert from few yards out.

No much of action to report in the second half but the “good” theatrical performances of Vandrezzer FC’s goalkeeper who deserves an Oscars for his time-wasting antics. That was as good as it got for either side as both teams settled for speculative shots from ambitious distances.

Coach Austin Chinwendu’s boys will look to get pass this disappointment as they will be traveling to Ekiti state to take on Ekiti United next weekend in Matchday 2 of NNL 2020/2021 season.
