NNL 2019/20: OSUN UNITED AVOID DYNAMITE’S EXPLOSION, GO SECOND

Osun united edged Dynamite FC by a lone goal in their NNL match day 4 tie at the Osogbo township stadium in Osogbo on Saturday.

The Omoluabi giants needing to revive from the heavy defeat in Ibadan against 3SC got the goal courtesy of a Victor Okeji penalty in the 16th minute.

The match was however dominated by the away side but they could not get the finishing touch as Osun United goal keeper, Arinze Okoro stopped every attempt on target. The goalie acrobatically tipped over the bar a free kick destined for the right top corner in the 76th minute amidst other top notch saves in the match.

Dynamite FC piled up the pressure late in the game to get a leveler but the home team stayed strong at the back to come off with hard earned three points.

Speaking on the win, Osun united head coach, Bright Omokharo lamented the lack of dominance in the game by his team but lauded his players for the hard earned win.

‘I never instructed the players to play the ball on the air, playing the ball in the air is anyone’s game, play it on the ground and dominate the game.’

The ex-international further bemoaned poor referring from the match day officials as he urged them to officiate future matches fairly for the benefit of both teams as he further assured that his team will get away wins in the course of the season.

‘And for the officiating, it is never done. Officiate rightly and it will benefit both teams. Away wins consolidate the team’s performance, you cannot rely solely on home wins, we have learnt from what happened in Ibadan but subsequent away games, we will get better results. ’

The win gives Osun united a lift in group b1 to second position, one point behind Shooting Stars who dropped points in Abeokuta after playing out a 1-1 draw against Nilayo FC as the Omoluabi giants prepare to visit Akwa Ibom state next weekend to play Ibom youths on match day 5.
