NMMAF President Amb. Henry George Nkoro Rallies Support for Team Nigeria at Africa MMA Championship

The President of the Nigerian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (NMMAF), Ambassador Henry George Nkoro, has expressed strong confidence in Nigeria’s representative at the ongoing Africa MMA Championship in Luanda, Angola, declaring full support from Nigerians living in the host country.

Speaking after a courtesy visit to the Nigerian High Commission in Angola, Amb. Nkoro emphasized that the federation is proud of Winifred Peter, Nigeria’s sole representative at the championship sanctioned by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).

Amb. Nkoro stated: “Yesterday at Province CP 479 Luanda, Angola, I had the honour of meeting with the Nigerian High Commission.

We received a warm reception, and the embassy assured us that Nigerians in Angola are solidly behind Team Nigeria at the championship.”

He added that Winifred’s participation represents a historic milestone for Nigerian MMA, and he urged her to channel the strength of her nation and the hopes of many aspiring fighters back home.

Winifred, despite a modest record of one win in three official bouts, has vowed to unleash “Naija fire” on her opponents and return home victorious.

Speaking passionately, she said, “This is a privilege, and I won’t let this honour slide. I will sacrifice my blood, my sweat, and everything to make sure I’ll be number one.”

Amb. George Nkoro lauded Winifred’s courage and resolve, stressing that her performance could pave the way for many other Nigerian fighters seeking international recognition.

“This is not just about one athlete,” he said, “it’s about the future of MMA in Nigeria.”

The NMMAF president encouraged Nigerians at home and abroad to rally behind Winifred, whose drive and fighting spirit embody the national slogan: “Naija no dey carry last.”
