Head coach of Synergy Ultimate Strikers Football Club of Ojota, Dare Azeez has boasted that his team were better and deserved to beat Messiah in the nationwide league one played on Thursday morning at the astroturf football pitch of national stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Azeez disclosed this after his team defeated Messiah 2-1 in the high tension-soaked match in Lagos. The dark-skinned coach expressed happiness that his boys lived up to expectations to get the needed result in the form of their fans.
“I thank God for this victory. It was a hard-fought victory for us because my boys were in good form. Although both teams played good football I must confess that we were better and deserved to win the game. We would go back home and prepare for our away match,” he said.
Azeez also admitted that he had seen some lapses in his team but promised to correct the weaknesses before their next match. He however commended Messiah for their fighting spirit exhibited throughout the encounter.
“Aside from that we won the match, I still need to work on the team because I have identified some lapses in the team during our match against Messiah. It needs to be corrected quickly before our next game,” he said.
Messiah coach, Tunde Olayinka expressed disappointment over the result saying that their defeat was a temporary setback on the table. He commended his boys for their effort but was sad for losing the three points to their opponents.
