BYT FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 win against Roro FC in the ongoing NLO at the Maracana pitch and head coach Fatai Adejumo Smith shared his thoughts in a post-match interview.
When asked about his assessment of the team’s performance, Coach Fatai emphasized the challenging circumstances they faced during the match.

“I’ll give them all the credit. Do you know why? Because they are playing in that difficult situation,” he told Sports 247.
Reflecting on the physical toll of the game, Coach Fatai highlighted the lack of consideration given to recovery between fixtures.
“Unfortunately, a lot was not considered before the fixtures were thrown,” he explained.
“From the first minute, we went ahead. After going ahead, I started seeing the effect of recovery. They were so tired, difficult to move.”
Despite the challenges, Coach Fatai commended his players for their mental strength and resilience. “I’ll give it to the boys because of the mental strength,” he added.
When asked to rate their opponents, Coach Fatai acknowledged Roro FC’s competitiveness and motivation, particularly from stand-up comedian Akpororo. “They are very decent. So inside the field, they have a motivator that they are looking up to.
It’s an advantage on their part. And they’ve been using it well. They are playing with that motivation,” he noted.
Looking ahead to future matches, Coach Fatai emphasized the importance of recovery and preparing the team for upcoming challenges.
“First and foremost is to deal with their recovery… Another game is in less than 24 hours,” he said.
“I’ve been able to keep in some very young boys. I hope that’s the time they’re going to take up the challenges because I know they will come, and that’s the joker.”
