NLO Lists Requirements for Compulsory Players’ Pre-Competition Medical Assessment

The Nationwide League One (NLO) has outlined mandatory requirements for clubs ahead of the 2026 Pre-Competition Medical Assessment (PCMA) exercise for players.

In a reminder issued to participating teams, the league body emphasised that the medical screening remains compulsory for all players ahead of the new season, as part of measures to prioritise the health and safety of athletes competing in Nigeria’s grassroots football league.

To ensure a smooth and organised exercise, the NLO stated that clubs must meet specific eligibility conditions before their players can be cleared to undergo the medical assessment.

Top on the list of requirements is evidence of payment, as only clubs that have fully settled their registration and participation fees for the 2026 season will be scheduled for the PCMA exercise.

The league body also stressed the importance of player licence collection, noting that only clubs that have completed their registration process and are in possession of their official player licences will be eligible to present players for screening.

According to the NLO, no player will be allowed to undergo the medical assessment without presenting a valid NLO-issued licence at the screening centre.

The league further warned that any club that arrives at the screening venue without meeting the stipulated requirements will be turned back, stressing that there will be no exceptions to the directive.

The NLO explained that the strict measures are necessary to maintain the integrity of its medical records and league documentation.

Clubs have therefore been urged to finalise all outstanding payments and collect their player licences by visiting the NLO Secretariat or their respective zonal offices to avoid being excluded from the compulsory medical exercise ahead of the 2026 season.
