Chief Operating Officer of the National Nationwide League One in Nigeria, Olushola Ogunowo has stated that the main rationale behind the draws for the Division 2 NLO season was to help reduce and minimize the rate of cost for the teams participating in the League season.

The amazing passionate NLO COO stated this after the draws for the Division 2 NLO season were made on Saturday.

In an interview with Sports 247, when being asked the motive behind the draws, Olushola stressed that it was to ensure that most club benefits from it, as it will help reduce cost and various expenses faced by the clubs were being reduced, as he also stated that the clubs are also excited to participate in the competition, after not participating in any major event last year (2020).

“We have just done the draws and the game will commence on Sunday (today). The clubs are very excited. They have been preparing for a long, looking at the fact that there was no event in 2020 and now in 2021, we are already in the second quarter, we want to be sure that they (the clubs) participate in this major league campaign.

“With the way things are going, we want to ensure that clubs get 100 percent benefits of their investment in these games. We try to do that by making sure that they don’t spend much at this level (NLO Division 2), because if we had allowed them to play the normal ‘Home and Away’ season, they would be spending higher money on travels, hotels, allowances and so on, so that’s why we had to put this draws together. They will only pay #200,000 which will help cover for all their expenses, so that’s the reason for the draws”.

“The Clubs are excited about this and they have been telling us (NLO Committee) that they want the league to continue this way”, he emphasized.

The NLO Division 2 kicks off on Sunday with various mouth-watering football actions.
