NLO 2021/22 : Smart City Hammer Hit Synergy Ultimate Strikers

Smart city football club of Lagos, on Friday recorded their second victory at home in the ongoing Nationwide League one season, as they triumphed 2-1 over hard fighting Synergy Ultimate strikers in a week 3 encounter, at the Teslim Balogun stadium.

The game which was keenly contested by both sides, saw diminutive striker of smart city, Fatai Ibrahim, getting the first goal of the match in the 21st minute to send the city fans into wild jubilation. city held on to their lead going into the break.

The second half continued from were the first half ended, as both teams continued to battle each other, with some fine display of football to the delight of the fans present at the stadium. Synergy Ultimate strikers, refused to lie down and get rolled over, as the put up a stern fight and their efforts payed off late into the game, as they got an equaliser that stunned the city players and fans.
City didn’t allow the late goal to kill their moral, as the never say die spirit of city was rekindled and city made sure Synergy Ultimate strikers went home empty handed, as, super sub, Babatunde Sodiq lashed home a lose ball with few minutes left to play to send city fans into wild ecstasy and jubilation. City made sure they went home with maximum points, as they defended very well in all departments till the end to secure all three points.

Speaking after the game, scorer of the winning goal, Babatunde Sodiq, said, he is heavily grateful to God for the victory.
“I want to thank God for the victory today, I also want to say I am happy my goal gave my team the victory, we will continue to do our best to make everyone happy” he said.
“It was really a tough game and our opponents were good, but we showed class and determination and we are all happy we got maximum points, we will start preparations for our next game immediately, because we want to continue with our winning streak” he added.

Smart city now have seven points from three games and are currently unbeaten in the ongoing nationwide league one season.
