Smart city football club of Lagos, started their journey in the Nationwide league one on a delicious note, as they spanked gbagada fc 2-0 on Wednesday, at the Teslim Balogun stadium, surulere, Lagos.
The game which was graciously attended by top dignitaries from the Nigerian football federation, was also well graced by a good crowd, who made the occasion more palatable to watch.
Goals from Habeeb Adebanjo and Jabal Umar was all city needed to seal a beautiful performance in their NLO opener against a stubborn gbagada fc, who gave city a good fight.
Speaking after the game, smart city coach, Gaffer Mohamed, said he is very pleased with the victory, because, it’s a moral booster for his team.
“Its always very good to get a good result in your first game. my boys did very well in the game and we thoroughly deserved our victory ” he said.
“We will quickly put this victory behind us and focus on the next game, which is very important, we all know its going to be a long season and we will take each game one after the other.
“I want to also thank the president of the club, the management and the entire smart city family for this victory” he concluded.
Meanwhile, captain of the team, Tunde Ojedokun, said he the victory is a good one for the team.
City will play their next game against Robo fc away from home next week.
