NLO 2021/22 : Re-Smart City FC Vs Messiah FC, 5 Players Suspended Indefinitely By League Board

The Nationwide League One Secretariat received the report of the above state match played on 7th April 2022 at Teslim Balogun Stadium Lagos State.

The Match Commissioner and the Centre Referee submitted their reports on this match with video evidence of whole incident

FACTS OF THE INCIDENCE

•The Match Commissioner and the Centre Referee reported gross misconduct by the players and officials of Messiah Football Club Lagos State.

•The players and officials of Messiah FC abandoned the match to join arguments and fight between the supporters of the two teams playing when there was an argument on a goal scored by Smart City

•The result as at the time the match was abandoned was 1-0 in favour of Smart City

•After waiting for the mandatory time permitted by rules on continuation of the match, the match officials the Referee called the home team (Smart City FC) captain to explain to him that the match will be called off due to regulation of the league.

DISCIPLINARY DECISION ON VIOLENCE CONDUCT TO DISCONTINUE A LEAGUE MATCH.

In view of the obvious situation, the NLO secretariat will rely on the relevant aspect of the rules and regulations guiding the league in reaching the decisions below;

•The match is hereby awarded to Smart City FC with 3 points and 3 goals as clearly stated in NLO rules and Regulations article 4.12 (4)

•Messiah FC shall pay a fine of N50,000.00 within the next 7 days (Art.4.12. 5&6)

•Smart City Fc and Messiah Fc shall pay a fine of N100,000.00 each for not been able to control their supporters while the game was going on, (Article 4:13. 5)

•It was obvious that five players of Messiah FC brought the game to an abrupt end by joining supporters fight while a match was going on, this action led to discontinuation of the match

•The following players of Messiah FC are hereby suspended indefinitely from all NLO matches and further communications shall be made to NFF for broader sanctions on football activities to serve as a deterrent

The above-named players of Messiah FC left their reserve bench while a game was ongoing to join a fight at the spectators stand.

Finally, the Nationwide League One Secretariat will not tolerate any act of indiscipline that can bring the game of football to disrepute.
