President Nigeria Amputee Football Federation, Paul Maduakor

President of the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation, Ambassador Paul Maduakor, has urged Nigerians to use the country’s 65th Independence anniversary to embrace unity, inclusion, and renewed commitment to national development.

In his Independence message, Maduakor said the celebration is not only about political freedom but also about recognizing the resilience of Nigerians, especially persons with disabilities, who continue to contribute to national growth through sports and other fields.

He called on government, institutions, and individuals to show greater support for para-sports, stressing that athletes with disabilities deserve recognition and investment as they embody courage and determination.

“At 65, Nigeria must strengthen the bond of inclusion. Our amputee footballers and other para-athletes have shown that disability is not inability. This anniversary is a time to celebrate their spirit and to unite as one nation,” Maduakor stated.

He further urged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite current challenges, describing sports as a tool that continues to unite the country and inspire the younger generation.
