Nigeria’s Rising Star Comfort Erhabor Signs Permanent Deal With Portsmouth FC Women Ahead of WSL 2 Campaign

Portsmouth FC Women have officially secured the services of Nigerian goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor, completing her move on a free transfer ahead of the 2025–26 season in the Women’s Super League 2.

The 20-year-old joins on a one-year contract, with Portsmouth holding the option to extend for another year .

Erhabor returns triumphantly to Fratton Park, following a loan spell during the latter part of last season, which saw her cement her place and impress under pressure.

Before that, she gained valuable experience with loans at Plymouth Argyle and Scottish side Hibernian, after initially rising through the ranks at Brighton & Hove Albion .

On the international front, Comfort Erhabor has represented Nigeria at the Under-17 level and is increasingly viewed as a contender for the Under-20 squad – and perhaps even for senior duty in the near future.

Her technical skills, agility, and presence in goal have earned praise both on and off the pitch.

Pompey’s head coach, Jay Sadler, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition:

“We’re really pleased to welcome Comfort back to the club on a permanent deal. She’s a goalkeeper with real character and she showed glimpses of her potential during her short loan spell with us last season.”

He added:

“Comfort Erhabor has all the tools to grow into a top goalkeeper and her presence will bring healthy competition to our goalkeeping department.”

This signing marks Portsmouth’s sixth acquisition of the summer, reinforcing their ambition to establish themselves as a force in WSL 2 under a new fully professionalized structure .

Erhabor’s journey—from Brighton’s youth system to a series of developmental loans, and now a permanent move to Portsmouth—highlights the club’s commitment to building a strong, competitive squad.

As she continues her ascent, all eyes will be on how this promising Nigerian talent thrives this season.
