Dar es Salaam — Nigerian midfielder Morice Chukwu has expressed confidence that his club, Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars, can challenge for the NBC Premier League title this season while also making a strong impression in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The 24-year-old international believes that the squad assembled for the new campaign has the right blend of experience and youthful energy to compete effectively on both domestic and continental stages.

He praised the club’s management for recruiting wisely during the off-season.
“The team has signed a coach with extensive experience in the CAF competition, Miguel Gamondi. But there is also Clatous Chama and Khalid Aucho — all of them are experienced players and they have done well where they came from,” Chukwu said.
According to him, the presence of a tactician like Gamondi, who has managed top clubs across Africa, combined with the leadership of proven stars, gives Singida Black Stars a competitive edge. Chukwu added that the squad has matured and is ready to deliver results that will elevate the club’s standing.
Despite the optimism, Chukwu admitted that he faces stiff competition for playing time. “Despite the competition for numbers in the Singida squad, I will fight to get a chance to start in the first team,” he explained, highlighting his determination to establish himself as a key figure in the lineup.
Chukwu was part of the squad that launched their 2025/26 NBC Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) at the KMC Complex. The Nigerian midfielder described the win as a vital morale boost that signals their readiness for a long season ahead.
He further emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and consistency if Singida Black Stars are to reach their twin goals of securing domestic silverware and progressing deep into continental competition. Chukwu said he is eager to contribute not only by fighting for a starting role but also by motivating his teammates to aim higher.
