Nigeria’s John Nihi Wins Pan-African Youth Union Vice President Position, Praises Youth Minister For Steadfastness

Nigeria’s John Oladele Nihi has emerged as the Vice President of the Pan African Youth Union(PYU).

He won his election in Niamey, Niger Republic at the Extraordinary Congress of the Union held between November 15 – 16, 2021.

The Vice President-elect showered encomiums on the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare for the role he played in helping him clinch the post.

His words: “Honourable Minister and Father General of Nigerian Youth Sir, on behalf of myself, family and Youths of Nigeria, I wish to sincerely appreciate you and the entire Federal Ministry of Youth & Sports Development for nominating and supporting me to contest on Nigeria’s ticket at the just concluded 4th Extraordinary Congress of Pan-African Youth Union (PYU).

“May I use this opportunity to inform you Honourable Minister Sir, that your fatherly support and the Ministry’s nomination was not a waste. With the tireless efforts of the Head of our Delegation, Director Network and Social Mobilisation(NSM), the Desk Officer, Sir Ben Duntoye who is a former PYU President and the current National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN)President, we were able to contest and defeat Senegal to emerge Vice President West Africa, Pan-African Youth Union (PYU).

“This is an honour and achievement for the Youth of our country under the Leadership/Ministerial supervision of Mr. Sunday Dare.”

Nihi also pledged his loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari, promising to be a worthy ambassador of Nigeria.

“May I pledge my unreserved loyalty to you my father, to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the entire Youth of our great country, even as I promise to be a good ambassador of Nigeria anywhere I find myself during the course of the discharge of my duties within the West Africa Region, the African continent and the world at large.”

The Minister, in his reaction, congratulated John Nihi on his feat and reiterated his support for young Nigerians taking up leadership positions in global organizations, explaining that the just concluded National Youth Conference and other initiatives of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development are aimed at providing such opportunities for the Nigerian youth through leadership training and scholarship schemes.
