Nigeria’s Handball Coach, Rafiu Salami, Eyes Gold at African Games

Following Nigeria’s impressive 38-19 victory over Togo at the ongoing African Games in Ghana, National handball coach, Rafiu Salami, has set his sights on winning the gold medal in the handball event.

Despite the convincing win, Salami admitted that the game against Togo was challenging for the team. He emphasized the need for the team to work harder to achieve their ultimate goal in the tournament.

Salami explained, “It was a difficult match for two reasons. I lost my key player a day to the championship, so we had to readjust the strategy we had been putting in place. Our team will need to work harder. The important thing is to get through the first match.”

With the team now having 2 points, Salami is optimistic about the upcoming match against Mali. “If we can get through Mali and have another victory, then we’ll see how it goes,” he said.

Salami expressed his determination to ensure the team’s success at the games. “Of course we came here to win. As a coach personally, I’ll do all I can to make sure we get something out of here,” he concluded.

This statement underscores the team’s ambition and the challenges they face in their quest for gold at the African Games.
